Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Thanks for all the options but the method I thought I used to use was very simple and just used the data/charge cable. The iPhone appeared as a drive and I just looked in the folder called Internal Memory and then the subfolder DCIM and the pictures were there. I could then manipulate them like any other file. I could move them, copy them, delete them etc.
I was and still am able to use that approach with the old Sony Walkman I have for music. I did always need to use iTunes with Apple devices to manipulate music. I have been successful in using iTunes to copy my MP3 files to my iPhone and iPad but I always seem to have to fight with it a bit as the programmer's mindset doesn't seem to agree with what I would expect.
