| Headland - 9/17/2023 12:59 Nothing for September and October. .60" in November, 2.20" in December, 1.50" in January, 3.25" in February, 2.80" in March, and 1.35" in April up until planting. 11.70 in about 8 months which did little to replenish subsoil moisture that was pretty tapped out last fall. Again, 1.0" of that was in one tenth increments so didn't really help much. The 1.50" in January might have run off a bit since we did have a little frost for a while. For the second year in a row we were able to get just enough rain at the right time to pull off what I think will be a decent crop but there is nothing in the tank for next year. Yearly rainfall here is normally around 40". The last two years we have been around 25 so 30 inches down for two years combined. Timely rains are a wonderful thing if you don't have much in the tank to spare.
You're talking to a guy that lives in an area that normally gets 28" of precipitation per year and the ground is frozen for a much larger % of the year. We've been well under our average for the past 4 years, couple of them have been sub 20".
