Nebraska aka the boondocks | The term dry really doesn’t mean much. What does mean a lot is available moisture in an area for the growing season and the amount needed to produce a crop. Most likely 24-28 inches. Some places can hold 3 inches of usable moisture and some probably 12 inches. Saying it’s dry if you got 18 inches and normally get 30 doesn’t tell anyone much if there are 10 inches in soil reserves. A “drought” or dry spell may just be what the doctor ordered for some places. Now from what we have been told, many places had no moisture reserves. |
