Here if we get anything over 2-3 inches at a time or it comes really fast, or it’s on frozen ground a lot of it it will run off before it can soak in. It looks like a lot, but the people in the River bottoms don’t like seem to like it very much.
You are correct that it doesn't all soak in but to completely dismiss 15"-20" of rainfall that fell outside of the growing season and say that you raised the crop on the limited rainfall since planting is completely false.
If even half of that out of season rain soaked in, you were in a good spot to start the year (provided you weren't excessively wet, which isn't what is being claimed).
