Books on ag written a long time ago claimed that cultivation increased yield for the reasons you gave. Now they want you to add biologicals to break down the nutrients in stead of cultivation. roots need oxygen to grow and as far as I know , cultivation is the only way for you to increase the oxygen in the soil and feed the microbes that the soil/plants needs . They like to condemn soil disturbance , but how else can you increase the oxygen. Does not the phrase' soil cultivation releases CO2 to the atmosphere' also mean that it increase the O2 percentage?
