Add in the fact that he raises a lot of oats which when raised the year prior to corn kind of functions like a fallow year by starting to build up subsoil reserves for the next crop year earlier vs a corn or soybean crop.
And he's located in an area that wasn't really dry until late August, after the corn crop was mostly made.
