Yep. Here we can hold about 2" per foot. So with a full 6' profile.............that'd be 12" before you added rain in.

I'm thinking the original poster probably has better organic matter soil than us in the desert. So if his tile was running.........he obviously had a full profile. So probably there was plenty of moisture during his season to easily pull off 200+ corn.
