Eastern NE KS | "So, does anyone just fill the trailer and go without shutting the center gate?"
I use the cut gate a lot to separate by size, cows vs their calves. Have 2 neighbors I help who rarely use it. Their pastures are nearby while I have my summer pasture 60 miles away from home place.
My use is also a safety consideration. We have a trucker haul who always uses her cut gates. The trailer holds 5, 7, 7 and 2 cows. Her thinking in a emergency stop the gates decrease the number of cows piling/shoving on the front cow. | |
