scmn | In D4 you should qualify for ELAP Feed and Livestock Transportation payment for 60% of 6.60/mile or 3.96/mile reimbursement up to 1000 miles. Downside is no assistance for feed hauled less than 25 miles.
If you figure out your loads/miles hauled last year (how many loads out of the field) and loads/miles thus far this year you can calculate your payment for shipping in loads from 50/100/200 miles away and use it to justify trucking in hay from areas with lower prices. Our area qualified in 2021 and we were told by FSA for ELAP is a load is a load. When asked what constitutes 'a load' we were told 1 bale in a pickup all the way to a semi load, payment is based on loaded miles; I asked if a bale hauled home in the camber of the baler counted as a load and was told: "a load is a load, does not matter how many are on the load." |
