I get rolling them out during the winter but why in the summer seems like more potential to waste hay compared to rings.

Last year baled 1400 + bales so far less than 800 this year. Been DRY here too.



My experience is opposite.

The rings they will eat more than they need—-and dominant cattle will hog, while those that need it most get the least. What’s drug out of feeder, most is wasted.

Unroll on dry ground , equal opportunity, just feed what they need, very little waste.
