Southeast WI | Jerry - we have a sizable sales area here at the farm - honor system early in the year or when we aren't around and then once picking is mostly over Tracey minds the store. When she's here someone that would spend $20 alone will easily drop $50 when she's helping sell!
That's only part of our sales. We sell directly to multiple grocery stores (higher end ones, not Walmart garbage quality type places) and have some other outlets for specialty/decorative squash and pumpkins and for larger orders of boxed and binned squash.
As Chuck said below - have a high quality product fairly priced and you will have a good market.
