I noticed when soil test organic matter started going up. Using less and less commercial fertilizer and still getting the same yield. Full season cover for me was rye planted in the fall. Then grazed in the spring. Followed up by a mixture of warm and cool season grasses and broadleaves and grazed in the summer and fall.
