Subject: RE: "Soil Health" principles

Southern, MN
Soil health is an overly used and over emphasized word. I guess I look at erosion as one of the greatest sins that can be made. Notill doesn’t provide the roi to stay competitive. It’s too cold here to grow corn and soybeans in that system. Also cover crops does not seem to provide any monetary value at all. It’s always negative roi. The tillage system I am in now (minimum tillage) seems to be allowing the nightcrawler populations to expand. I am sure there is all other sorts too but the night crawlers with there deep vertical channels get me more excited then anything else. That is one thing when I see that I feel very confident to stick the course with shallow tillage over a deeper more intense tillage.
