You mean why is your neighbors ponding and yours is soaking in? It's all in the sweeps, stirring up that loose soil on top makes it turn to mud and seal the surface. Even if the soil texture was identical 2" down. Yours is held together by the roots and stubble so it doesn't turn to mud, it allows the water to soak past the surface.
I was thinking about the same, plus the possibility of earth critters (don't know if you have worms or not), but here they would also make lots of tunnels for water to migrate downward. I think of tillage to worms is like a hurricane to humans (it disrupts a lot). Then you could also have more organic matter in your soil structure.
