Subject: John Deere 3130S Water Pump

Trying to find a water pump housing (core) , casting number R62157.
The bearings on my pump failed causing the impeller to flop around within the housing. The impeller gouged a portion of the housing that is about 2 inches long and about 1/16 inches deep. Its possible that the base of the impeller also wore away some of the core or some of base of the impeller wore away. When you center the impeller in the housing, there is a gap between the base of the impeller and core of approximately 1/8 inch (maybe less). According to local United Ag group, this core is no longer useable. However, I had a local mechanic look at it and he thinks it will work after rebuilding with rebuilt kit. He did say it may not pump the full recommended gallons per minute, meaning it may eventually overheat. We don't use the tractor but about 10-15 hours per year (mowing approximately (
acres), so if we monitor the temp guage, it may be okay. I would be curious to what some of you may think about that. I am also curious if there are folks who can repair the core.
Obviously, having a good core would be best. I have called junk yards, searched internet sources, etc and have struck out. Thought someone on this site may have one or know how to find one.
