An in line ripper will lift the entire profile in our silty clay soils. The fines will wash to the depth you ripped and create a density layer and water will fill above that layer. In a wet season you will sink equipment to that layer. Then you will have to rip deeper to take that layer out and you will create a new layer deeper. It is trouble if done too often
