I run two identical CNH 3x4 balers. One is on an 8100 John Deere, and the other on an 8300. While the 8100 does it "good enough," the 8300 handles it with ease.
As other have stated, it's not the HP, but the weight of the two machines interacting. Especially if you've got any hills. Bigger is better when it comes to big baler HP!
