Southeast WI | Started raising pumpkins in college to explore new crop opportunities and to raise a LITTLE extra cash. Knew I wanted to farm and knew how tough it would be getting started on my own with no family help so we had to explore high value crops to attain our goals. Over the years Tracey and I grew our operation enough that she didn't have to work off the farm to help support us and daughters. Yes we worked extra hard for a couple months of the year but it gave us freedom the rest of the time not having her tied to a regular job just working for insurance, etc. Years ago farmers always talked about hogs being the "extra crop" on the farm that was the mortgage lifter. I guess I always looked at our vine crops in a similar light. So here's some pics of our past several days.
