Subject: Yield variation in Field 50 to 300 BPA

Talked to a farmer today west of Waterloo Iowa. He is picking about 20 percent moisture corn and his yield monitor ran from 50 to 300 BPA is the field. My first responce was what!!! Never heard of that big of variation before. I ask him why? And he says he does not know what is going on in his field. He said his yield will be down about 20 BPA from last year, And is averaging over 200. He has never picked that dry of corn this early before also. Any ideas of what might be coming on?

Also the Mississippi will set new lows for water levels after setting new lows last year. Des Moines water works is setting up risers in the racoon river for the 3 year in a row. I guess the corn is using up all the water so the rivers will run dry. Are farmers getting so good at using the rain that there is no runoff for the rivers?
