My farm was in CRP for 14 years. I burned (fire) it off in the spring and notilled it to beans at least 10 years ago. Best beans I have ever raised. I have never tilled it because I believe that any tillage would cause a hard pan. You need to keep the topsoil on top and I don’t understand why anyone thinks they should plow it or do any tillage and bring the subsoil to the top on any CRP. Just keep no tilling and it will preform much greater than you can imagine. Been there and done that.


Agree with everything you said. The only thing I would add is running over it with a harrowgator after it was burned off to shear off the ant hills and varmint mounds.
