southern MN
Small time neighbor wants to replant a grass pasture to good hay so I’m kind of following this thread for ideas.

Here local most crp is low wet ground more or less, some of the deepest topsoil you would see, so not sure how one would bring up subsoil, or worry about that?

In any event how do you deal with the gopher and coyote and badger mounds and holes? Again locally, one often rips up an alfalfa field before it’s really run out, because you can’t stand to drive over the rough ground from the wildlife holes and mounds.

Notill into this type of ground seems like a losing proposition. I realize it’s a here vs there type of thing. I’m not saying you are wrong for ‘there’, but it would seem an odd choice prone to failure ‘here.’

Couple decades ago a fella did notill beans into a smaller grass field. The results were terrible. I’m sure some timing issues, or rainfall issues, or something not done right, but everyone involved was sure glad it was a smaller field.......

Mostly just curious how you dealt with the rough ground from the wildlife?
