There seems to be two groups of people when it comes to Paccar engines. Those that love them, and those that hate them. Not much in-between. The group that hates them has a lot of people that have zero experience with them other than heresay. The guys that love them are running deleted and claim they are million mile engines. My preferred shop will work on them but won't rebuild them. He has ran into bearing issues he claims.
We've had a 2015 with an 18sp ultrashift for just about exactly a year. Only 10k miles by us and 540k total. Nice pulling little engine IMO. Have had zero issues so far. The truck can want to lurch when first taking off which takes some skill to prevent. Calibrating the clutch is on my list of things to do.
You will find out soon enough what the mx13 is all about. We have a new truck on order and it will have the X15 in it. We have had our experience with one since 2016 and tired of fighting it every month. We have never had a semi towed before we owned the mx13 and know the tow driver well! |
