Central Alberta | I know we're headed towards a zero-emissions world, whether or not grumpy old men like myself like or not,
but that's not the worst thing in the world when you think about it. Of course, there will be some pain in the transition,
especially with idiot activists in charge, like J.T. in Canada.
I like electric power, but it's still lacking that word, "power." We still don't have good batteries, and it's not certain if we ever will. Battery improvement has been incremental but slow. If someone could manage to harness the power of chemistry like that contained in hydrocarbons, and do it without greenhouse gas emissions, they'd have a winner. But I see nothing like that on the immediate horizon.
So let's do this in a smart way, not cold-turkey, which isn't necessary. We still have time, even though some alarmists would have you believe we only have a few years left before the apocalypse. The cumulative effect of personal automobiles is by far the biggest concerns. Don't worry about space rockets and airlines for now. they are relatively minor sources of carbon emissions. We've come along way in the last 40 years, and I'm sure we'll solve it. | |
