The only time it ever over flowed into the outlet was in 1983. It never over flowed in the 90s however the lake was much higher than it is now. Also in 1983 there were a couple major events that caused the Glen canyon dam to nearly be over ran. They had to drastically cut the flow on the relief tunnels because they were getting severe cavitation and were afraid the tunnels would blow themselves apart and cause a massive dam failure. They ended up cutting the flow to the tunnels and built an 8 foot “ extension” on top of the dam with plywood and some bracing to hold the water back. Luckily, the dam held or the results would have been catastrophic.

Also, ag takes a vast majority of the water. Maybe we shouldn’t be growing corn, alfalfa, and building mega dairy’s out in the desert.
