It leaks into groundwater. Any generating potential is lost and where it actually goes, I dont know. Could be so deep that it is impractical to pump or it might pick up enough minerals to be unusable. Even the unmolested Colorado is a long way from being puure water. Lots of calcium in it.
Looks like Lake Mead has plateaued.
