Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning. | Lake Powell leaks, and badly. Even the biggest proponent of its construction, Barry Goldwater, admitted it was a mistake as he got older. The leakage is a very major factor in why Lake Mead doesn't get as full as it did pre Glen Canyon.
If the Corps was really serious about filling Mead and conserving as much water as possible, they would keep Powell as close to dead pool as possible and only filling the lake in situations where Mead might be full. We all know that won't happen though. |
Looks like Lake Mead has plateaued.
