Everyone is different, but I have not found them to be poisonous to the skin. They grow up around the house and around the blackberries and grapes, and I've pulled them by the roots without a problem.
This could be a poison ivy type deal though. Some people will get a rash just being nearby, others can eat a poison ivy salad and be fine.
