Central Nebraska is, Plenty far North for Soybeans as a Double Crop. Sunflowers are somewhat more doable.
I'm pretty sure he's thinking about white mold. I kinda poo-pood his cautionary tale the last couple years... this year I can see where I had sunflowers previously in the white mold severity in what had been a split field. There's other fields in the area with as bad of white mold that never grew sunflower, but...
