Why harvest early and spend money on drying if it is under the FCI threshold? ADM has basically lowered the early fall bids. I am not going to worry about the phantom yield loss. It will be probably have the same net and gross if you field dry it and take a yield reduction. My combine is going to be set with the rotor barely getting all the corn off the good ears so I don't have to handle extra bushels.
You strike me as a guy that will wait to harvest like you said and get a few rains and a little wind. Then will come on here complaining because it all fell over because the stalks were very thin and weak from the dry summer. Edit: There's a reason why guys harvest very stressed corn early.
