SE Iowa | I've had 100 bu wheat the last two years, one on soy stubble, one on vt'd corn stalks. Plant recommended rate according to seed provider which here is around 100lbs/acre depending on seed size in late Sept or early October after beans are off. I put about 70 lbs of N and some sulphur after greenup in spring. Don't go too early and right before a rain is nice. No fungicide used as disease was not a problem with the dry springs we have had last two years. Wheat does not like it wet. Cut around July 4th and planted beans. There are ultra early varieties you could cut sooner. | |
