Central Nebraska | Hey all, looking into growing my first wheat crop ever. We farm in central Nebraska on irrigated ground. Traditionally we grow corn and soybeans and rotate those crops but our irrigation water is about to run out if we don’t get a recharge before next spring so looking at alternative crops that will take less water or water at different times of the year. Our ground is capable of 260+ corn and 85+ soybeans so what would be an attainable yield goal for a first time wheat grower?
What is the ideal rotation of these 3 crops? Wheat following corn or soybeans? What is the ideal planting date for wheat in central Nebraska? Thanks for any help, would really like some guidance on growing a high yielding wheat crop! | |
