Columbus,MI | I use a 49' Allis G and a 74' IH 140 for all my cultivation and they both get on fine. Stuff breaks but parts are out there, might take a day or two. Lots of guys out there who specialize in parts and add on's and Tilmor has all the tillage/cultivation option you might want for either. 140 is bigger and heavier and can do more things, pull a potato digger and planter. The G is way lighter and does things the 140 can't and visibility is way better on the G, especially when you run a side dresser on the 140. Below are other main stream brands models the could fit.
Farmall Cub - Smaller lighter version of the A and 1xx. Parts are available.
Farmall A, Super A - Older manual lift version of the 1xx series. Parts are available.
Farmall C and Super C - Bigger versions (2 row) of the above and below. On par size wise with the Ford 541 and 2000. Parts are available.
International 100, 130, 140 - Has hydraulics PTO and you can put a 3 point on in place of fast hitch. Part are available.
International 274 - Diesel and true factor 3pt. Very nice but now a day a $10k tractor. Parts are harder to find than 1xx series.
Case IH 265 - Very low production tractor, they are cool but parts are rare and expensive. $15k tractor
Ford 2000 offset - Bigger than any of the above, not many made and parts are tough to come by.
Ford 541 offset - Older version of the 2000 offset. Same story on parts.
Ford 1710 - Very low production tractor, parts are almost impossible to find. $15k tractor.
Kubota L245H - Many folks conider this the best vegetable farming tractor around, Kubota diesel engine, 3 point and still has some degree to part support. Some parts may be NOL and the used market is slim. I have been wanting one for a long time but, always out of budget. $8K tractor.
I don't know your budget, but if you can do it get a G and 140, will do everything you want and you can get parts. I would think today if you have around $6k to spend you could get both in decent shape and spend another $1000 on cultivation, hillers, side dressers, etc to do everything you might want to do.
