Thumb of Michigan | Buddy had one that I borrowed several times (no tilling alfalfa), he no-tilled soybeans every year with it. Shoup kept him in the parts needed. Most everything on that drill was standard size (bolts, etc.). The one you're looking at even has a small seed box it appears. Buddy added one from another brand that worked.
He broke a mount (where disc bearing mounts to) one-time, I had a friend bore a hole though the two pieces, chamfer the hole on both sides. Put a bolt in and welded the bolt on both sides. The keeping it heated welded the parts back together (casted part), still holding together yet today. Description clear as mud, point being you can repair about everything on that drill, if you have a good welder/machinist available.
BTW, he was meticulous about keeping it greased and inside. | |
