Please do expand what your knowledge of the situation is besides just a guess. A person can survive working that rate, but it doesn’t make for a happy wife and family.
All you have is a guess and what that slanted story reported.
Maybe they should follow the advice given to the coal miners who were losing their jobs and learn how to write code if they don't like their current working conditions.
