West Texas
In Texas the irrigated acres may go up because of corn acres switching to cotton, but the available water supplies are declining. The panhandle's water table is dropping at a rapid pace. On the other hand varieties are getting better at producing better yields and quality on less water. Many acres of cotton in Texas is dryland.
