We are going to have to get some moisture for the stock pile fescue to grow. I have several places I'd like to spread some urea to help but we haven't had rain in 3 or 4 weeks, 100 degree temps, and there is no rain in the forecast for the next 10 days. How late can a guy spread urea for stock pile fescue?
With urea it needs to go on sooner but as you know you need the rain to get it in the soil or suffer losses. I’d say late September on nitrogen applied to fescue but I would switch to ammonia nitrate as it’s more readily available for the plant to use. Just my 2 cents. I’d say 25-50 units of N is still cheaper than buying hay. (If it rains) here is a pic of fall stockpile grown in 2018 after a dry summer.
