Subject: RE: Freezer beef profitability

West Central Illinois
Some people around here are probably losing a good chunk of change selling freezer beef at way below the market right now, several people that feed out 3 or 4 dozen around anywhere from $2.40 to $2.50/lb hanging weight for nice blk fat cattle. Same fats through the sale barn right now probably bring $1.80-$1.85 on the hoof easily right now. Would get a check in the mail in a few days from sale barn rather than fighting 2 to 4 different parties on each calf to pay their bill. Wouldn't have to hear about how they don't have the money because they had to have their plumbing worked on, or their car needed fixed or whatever sob story they come up with why they can't pay for something they've had booked for months.
