I think it takes about 30 days or less from dent to black layer. If the crop is down to half milk line and it freezes you will lose a little test weight but not a whole lot so if it doesn't freeze in the by the 20th of Sept. it shouldn't really hurt yield much. The too dry is a concern but I don't see any concern of losing yield because of an early frost.
