Hennepin, IL | We farm a little bit of everything. The point about stress early is noted, and I did state at the time we were headed for a disaster BUT if the pattern did a 180 we could be looking real good. And we do now for the most part. The stuff that looked the worst I haven't really been in for a month or better, but its going to be hard to overcome a very uneven 22-24k final stand. The problem we're running into now is the pattern did switch back then, but we never did get a series of soakers so completely turn us around. For whatever reason the early planted corn around appears to be giving up. Lots of dropping ears other than in the low spots where the husks are still green as a gourd. Later planted corn still looks really good and isnt showing the drought stress like the early stuff. Not sure how long that will last though. | |
