We are getting late enough the impact on corn is going to be minimal on a national basis. Soybeans however there is a bunch of acres that this time of the year determines that last 5-15 bu and it doesn't look good for a lot of acres. I looked at beans yesterday and still have enough moisture to get by a bit but I would still guess a 1"+ rain in the next week would make at least 5 more bu.


Crop tour had a lot of corn at dent, so to finish well you need ~6 inches of moisture. August rain matters for corn, if you are going for good yields. I can see where, before stay green, and the bigger kernel hybrids, you wouldn’t need as much late moisture. Modern genetics really just give you a bigger window for rain, but to make big yields you still need a lot of water.
