They're somewhat rare, you should be able to see old classified or auction prices? I'd think at least $1k

I think he was just justifying the price on older “precision “ equipment. Some guys don’t really want/need to upgrade to a new/different system. In my humble opinion, they are worth zero but because they are rare and in somewhat of need for those that don’t want to change up they have value.
