EC SD | I hear you - that is extreme drought for sure. It affects much more than just the crops too.
Here we have not had it for that long, but our deep soil moisture is completely gone. I was digging with the excavator last fall and it was powder dry soil for 15 feet down. I have never failed to find water at those depths in past years, usually hit water at 3 to 8 feet down. My old 25 foot deep farm well dug in the drought of the 1950s, in a low spot, went dry for the first time since it was dug. That well is still dry throughout this summer. My shelter belt trees are dying...
These drought maps are being ignored by the media and the traders, but drought is real and severe in many locations!! | |
