indeeppigfarmer - 8/24/2023 21:46 If that transpires, don’t you think that a lot more beanmeal will just end up on a boat instead of the raw beans?

The presentation that I sat in on last December gave a case that if all of the under construction and proposed crush plants get built, we don't currently raise enough beans to fill them, without exporting a single bean.

He also presented a case where beans take acres from corn, bean meal basically ends up being a byproduct of soy oil and priced similarly/lb as corn.   The synthetic Amino Acid market is DOA and we'd basically go from using as little sbm in a ration as possible to using as much as possible.    He thought the net change in the cost of feeding hogs would be negligible.

I'm not sure it will happen or not but he did lay out the numbers as to how/why he thought this would happen.

King corn takes a big hit in 2025 and in 2026 soybeans will be the dominant crop in the corn belt. Soybean net profitability per acre in 23 and 24 will possibly exceed corn
