Subject: RE: Baling corn stalks behind a Deere stalkmaster corn head

Sioux County, NWIA
Deere heads cut about as fine as any one. Biggest problem with any processing head is the need to bust the stumps before raking or the stumps will soon destroy the rake tines. Stumps are too short for the rake to break over easily, but too long for the rake to skip over. Secondary concern is how fine the product is. Most balers need to slow down a little vs a completely unprocessed or even a shredded stalk. I’ve also found that processed stalks tend to dry down slower than unprocessed. That will depend quite a bit on the circumstances.
