EC SD | Sorry to hear, and in my personal experience, D3 on the drought monitor is a tough spot for sure!
My legend for the drought monitor based on SD crop production (may be different in higher rainfall areas of the country)
D0 - no worries, just a decent rain away from normal and can easily hit APH yields, or higher if the rains you get are timely...
D1 - would need very timely rain to reach APH yields and a field record yield is not happening...
D2 - highly likely a crop insurance situation with 75+ % coverage.
D3 - may not need the combine this year, likely a crop insurance situation even with 50% coverage, but have a chance for soil moisture recovery before next year.
D4 - won't need the combine this year and would take extreme moisture to recover to normal soil moisture even for the following crop year | |
