Isn't the A1 gene the newer variant in the evolution of genetics? Holsteins, well average production genetics, have the highest portion A1. Then "heritage" breeds have less A1 genes accross the population, but not all individuals are A2A2.

One talk I heard 10 years ago, so my details are blurry, but the takehome was the A1 milk's digestion pathway simulated a morphine compound in its breakdown. Interesting reading I need to refresh myself on. New Zealand has been testing far longer than US genetic companies.
