Subject: RE: Rain smounts

Absolutely it’s pulling from deep down, just as anyone who is complaining about “only” getting a half inch over the weekend. Unless it’s dead and brown from top to bottom it’s getting moisture somewhere, could be 8 feet deep, but it’s getting it from somewhere. I guess my point is unless your crop is totally dead a half inch is still beneficial. I have seen those charts 1000 times and don’t believe them for a second. While corn “could” use that much rain it doesn’t have to have that much. By that charts map we’ve used 17-20 inches of water. It has rained 5 inches. Does that mean our soil had 12-15 inches worth of rain sitting in it? The answer is no, we were on the dry side going in. So why isn’t the corn dead yet?
