| Cattailking - 8/6/2023 17:49 We have a couple fields that caught a pop up half inch 8 days ago. They look excellent end to end today, the fields that missed that look horrible, rolled end to end. For context 4 of the last 8 days were in the 90s the others, including today, were in the 80s. I guess I’d. all it a stand alone half inch since the last measurable one before that was .2 July 2nd. I guess what I’m saying is I’m gonna believe my own eyes over your post.
I'll guarantee that your field of corn used more than 1/2" of water in 8 days time, it got the rest of its needs from the soil reserves. Even if the soil reserves were dwindling and not keeping up with usage, there was still something there.
Yes, it made a huge difference vs not getting it but 1/2" (by itself) does not sustain corn that is filling ears for 8 days.
Also, you don't have to take my word for it, universities and private companies have put a lot of research into such a topic as corn water usage. The chart is from Pioneers website.
