Wisconsin | The never ending game of rebranding and rebadging. Interesting that they go back to Long, who sold UTB out of Romania, Czech Zetors, maybe some Spanish Fords, Fiats, Argentinian Fiat copies... As far as I know, and I've been wrong a time or two, LS tractors are made in South Korea, and there's nothing wrong with South Korean manufacturing these days. People who only buy John Deere but want a smaller tractor, they get a Yanmar. The best reputation in that class might be Kubota? but how many of the Yanmar and Kubota are made in Japan anymore anyway?
So I guess you're on your own, there's also mahindra etc. out of India. Maybe some Turkish tractors too, or maybe those stay in Europe. It comes down to the reputation of the model you're looking at, some will be swapped back and forth between manufacturers, so I'd want to know what I'm buying, then what support you expect from the dealer. Buying a third world copy of a MF235 wouldn't bother me as much as an oddball common rail engine. People wonder if electronic tractors will be running in 40 years, I'd bet the JD and Fendts will mostly still be running, some kid will figure out their own controller and they'll run fine without ma Deere. The smaller engines might not have that support. | |
