We have always bedded with 8’s to cover the tile and get roughly 1” above. No matter how much loose dirt you get around the tile it will continue to setlle/pack more than stone and it will egg shape after backfilled if using dirt only. Stone helps to support the connection point and also helps support the sides and also allows water to flow better if outside the pipe. FWIW They say most of your problems from plowing occur at take off. Stone 4” deep around the tile allows the water to still flow where it needs too if you get a slight dip.
